Plants are flowering size 2 growth divisions of the 'Harbinger's Bubble' clone. This plant was pulled for judging at the 2016 O.S.W.P. show for its incredible coloration.
This is a member of subgenus Micropetalum. This species is a compact grower 18" - 12" tall. The leaves are ½” wide. Inflorescences are 9" - 15" tall and are sequentially flowering. The initial flush usually produces 2 flowers. These are produced singly for the next several months. Inflorescences on larger plants produce 2-3 branches. Individual flowers are 2” – 2¼” across. Sepals are white with a pink blush. The petals are pure white with a pink blush and spots on the basal ¼. The pouch is rose-pink with a darker rose-red mouth. The staminode is yellow-gold with two red “eyes”. The flowers on this clone are VERY fragrant. A plant with 2-3 flowers open will fill a room. Phragmipediums are easily grown. Plants will grow well with Cattleya level light, but… these plants should NEVER be allowed to dry. They prefer to be kept evenly moist to wet. Water culture is suggested for those who tend to underwater. This species is prone to leaf tip browning if it dries too much or is over fertilized.
