Angraecum eichlerianum

This plant is a flowering size top cutting of a stock plant. The plant is 6” – 8” tall with good aerial root growth. Flower photographs are of this plant.  The plant photograph is to show the growth habit and does not represent this offering.

This species is native to Nigeria, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Republic of the Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo (Zaire), and Angola. It is a tall growing species with a leaf span of 4” – 6”. Plants begin to flower when 4” – 5” tall and will mature to 18” – 20”.  Inflorescences are 2” – 5” long. Each produces 1-2 flowers each.  Individual flowers are 3” – 4” across. Sepals and petals are green. The labellum is pure white with a dark bottle green throat. Flowers are EXTREEMLY fragrant at night. Flowers last 2-3 weeks. Plants are tall and produce mostly aerial roots. Plants grow well in pots with a VERY CORSE mix similar to Vanda. As with all Angraecum, these plants resent root damage.  A plant will sulk or die if its roots are severely damaged.  It is best to err on the side of caution.
